since summer 2007 this blog has served two purposes: first, to update those i love and care about in the u.s. of A. about the comings and goings of my life (first in ecuador, then in los angeles, now in spain). the second purpose, albeit a bit more open, was to have a place to "think out loud" about various topics such as social justice, faith, politics, and other random ramblings. but these intentions were never explicitly stated and not always strictly followed. as i move forward, however, i've decided that i want to set a "mission statement," if you will, for this blog. why set a mission statement? a few reasons. first, i want the blog to become more uniform in its content and postings so that the three of you who actually read this blog will know what you are getting when you type in the blog url. second, i want to hone in and really delve deeper into issues i know somewhat about so that i not only inform my readers, but i inform myself as well. and finally, i was so impressed by the blog my friend ryan weldzius writes that i decided it was time to step up my game.
so, from here on the purpose of this blog is to post thoughts, ramblings, opinions, diatribes (and any other synonym you can think of) on social justice, faith and the sometimes tricky and intertwined role they have together. i hope to share insight into thoughts i have, as well as share the opinions of others that i come across in my search to understand what these two things really are.
don't worry, i'll still update with little blurbs about my life and humorous items that i come across (see below, thanks santi!). but as both social justice and faith are both two important pillars of my life, i want to devote more time towards them.
i hope you enjoy the result as i start to switch gears a bit, but before i do, i'll be sure to post a blog updating my travels over the past month. thanks for your continuing support and readership!
en paz,
nate
