two quick recommendations

i've been in a documentary kick lately and two good ones that you should all check out are the cove and crude.

the first, "the cove" won the oscar for best documentary last year and focuses on the annual killing of dolphins in japan. because of the censorship of the local government and fisherman, the lengths that the filmmakers go to to procure footage almost makes the documentary like a spy thriller. definitely worth checking out.

the second film, "crude," i enjoyed more so because of my ties to ecuador than anything else. the film follows a crew of ecuadorian and american lawyers as they try to take on and sue chevron-texaco for the contamination of a region in the ecuadorian amazon region. kind of a david vs. goliath story, but really fascinating given the history of abuse by transnational corporations in latin america.

anywhere, there is my two cents. have a great weekend!
